Political Spectrum: Difference Between a Conservative and a Libertarian

The key difference between a conservative and a capital “L” Libertarian (those that would be right of Ron Paul on the chart): is that a conservative understands that all “liberty” is from a sovereign being; the Creator of all life. And a capital “L” Libertarian believes that as a sovereign being they are “free” even from the Creator of all life. A conservative understands that “life”is a gift from the Creator, and therefore is the source of their unalienable rights. A capital “L” Libertarian believes that because of life they are the source of their unalienable rights.

To the left is a Jan 2, 2016 screen capture from the Libertarian Party post on their blog, Libertarian Party vs. Constitution Party, Posted on Sep 22, 2008. The post states:

“From the get-go, the differences of the two parties are quite obvious.  At its very roots, the Constitution Party is unabashedly a party of Christian philosophy and spirituality, where as the Libertarian Party remains much more secular in its composition and values.”

How is it that the Libertarian Party tells us that they are “much more secular in its composition and values”; when the Founding Fathers of the American Republic declared in the Declaration of Independence that all men have been “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” The fact of the matter is that our  “unalienable Rights” have been granted by a divine power that is beyond the secular; and therefore our Founding Fathers demanded their Independence.

For, if these rights were not granted by our Creator, where did these rights originate? If these rights were granted by our Creator—no power and authority on earth can remove those rights; thus there are  “unalienable.”

The purpose of a government is not to provide us with life, liberty, or property. God has already endowed us with these rights. The purpose of a government is to protect the rights we already have from those who would unjustly take them from us.

The very heart of a libertarian is 2 Corinthians 3:17, and Galatians 5:1-18; and being a conservative is one that seeks to conserve the fact that ALL liberty is of God!

To preserve “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”…

A libertarian conservative understands that all “life” beginning at conception is from God and should be protected. Therefore life is to be safe and secured in one’s home without fear of harm or death. Government is to protect the right to life by protecting the very means by which life is brought forth:

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

A libertarian conservative understands that as life goes out the front doors of each of our homes in “pursuit of Happiness” that each of us has the freedom of conscience to seek whatever makes us happy as long as it does not cause harm or death to the life of others. When a person prevents someone from the free exercise of choices than that person is violating the right to the “pursuit of Happiness.”

The relationship between “life” and “the pursuit of Happiness” is what is known as “Liberty”…

The federal government therefore has the moral responsibility of passing two laws in protecting “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”:

A law protecting marriage as being one man and one woman. For this is the very means by which life is reproduced. And

A law protecting life from conception to natural death. For “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life”

We find also on the Libertarian Party post, “However, the biggest difference between the two parties, and one that is the best manifestation of the diametric difference of philosophies on the role of government in society, relates to the issue of gay rights.”

The life of each individual come about through the means of a man cleaving unto his wife and conceiving new life. There is not one “gay” relationship that is able to do this for they are restricted by the very laws of nature. And is the reason the role of government in society is to protect marriage as being one man and one woman. For without new life society will cease to exist.

Instead, when the role of a government is limited to protecting rights, rather than providing us with their outcomes, the rights remain with the individual to care for according to their stewardship to God, who granted those rights.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
